Notes use three words deliberately: "Native" works day one, "Configured" arrives through an implementation project, and "Marketed" appears on the vendor's site with day-one delivery undocumented. "Not documented" means the vendor does not publicly document this capability as of Sep 22, 2026; it may exist, and we note the gap rather than guess. Ratings reflect public documentation as of Sep 22, 2026.

Where Vizibl is strong: strategic supplier governance, innovation, and Scope 3

Vizibl was co-founded in 2012 by Mark Perera, who also founded Procurement Leaders, and Alex Short, and it has spent over a decade on one problem: how large enterprises get measurable value from their most strategic supplier relationships. The platform is organised into four core modules: Supplier Relationship Management (joint account plans, centralised supplier information, relationship governance), a Supplier Collaboration Workspace (real-time joint projects, QBR scheduling, 360-degree surveys), a Supplier Innovation Hub (innovation pipelines with value tracking), and Supplier Sustainability Management, plus dashboards and reporting.

The customer evidence is real and enterprise-grade. Vodafone Procurement Company used the Innovation Hub to eliminate duplicate proofs-of-concept and align supplier innovation with its Tech 2025 strategy, with CEO Ninian Wilson on record in the case study. Astellas Pharma runs supplier governance programs on it, with named executives crediting the implementation and training support. Sanofi, Novartis, Heineken, and Google appear among its customers.

Its most differentiated recent motion is sustainability. Vizibl is a CDP-accredited solutions provider, ships a built-in SBTi Supplier Engagement framework, and packages Scope 3 supplier engagement as Decarbonisation as a Service with a claimed four-week program launch. For a procurement organisation measured on value beyond savings, this is a genuinely useful toolset, and nothing in LightSource replaces it.

Where LightSource is the system of record: sourcing engineered parts

LightSource does the job Vizibl does not attempt: sourcing and costing engineered parts. The unit of work is the part on a revision-managed item master. AI ingestion turns Excel files, PDFs, and drawings into items; nested BOMs carry snapshots, revision diffs, and cost roll-ups; RFQs go out at part level with drawings attached; and every award becomes a tracked contract with per-supplier price history. In our evaluations, LightSource is the only sourcing solution with true flexible cost breakdowns: category-specific bid sheets per event, with AI normalizing whatever format a supplier quotes in.

The supplier side is a network rather than an invite list: 20,000 suppliers are live on the platform, access is free for suppliers, and onboarding takes under 30 minutes with Excel round-trip quoting. Manufacturers including BRP, Canada Goose, HelloFresh, Shure, and Serta Simmons Bedding run their direct-materials sourcing on it, typically live in days on flat files and sourcing within about 30 days, with implementation included.

On AI, the practical difference is what has shipped. Vizibl published a thoughtful January 2026 vision of AI-agent supplier monitoring (it calls the destination a "Supplier OS"), but as of September 2026 no shipped AI features are publicly documented. LightSource's AI is in the product today: item ingestion, RFQ setup, quote normalization and comparison, drafted award scenarios, and document analysis, with the buyer owning every decision.

The structural difference: Vizibl works above the transaction, LightSource runs the transaction

The two products do not share an object model. Vizibl manages relationships, initiatives, ideas, and emissions data. LightSource manages items, revisions, BOMs, quotes, awards, and price history. There is no RFx module, quote handling, award concept, or parts concept anywhere in Vizibl's public documentation, and ERP Research describes it as purpose-built for ongoing strategic supplier relationship governance rather than transactional sourcing or e-procurement. Equally, LightSource has no joint account planning, QBR cadence, or Scope 3 engagement tooling.

The customer bases tell the same story. Vizibl's public references skew pharma (Astellas, Sanofi, Novartis), telecom (Vodafone), and consumer goods (Heineken, British American Tobacco): organisations running relationship and sustainability programs. LightSource's customers are manufacturers sourcing engineered parts, from Infinite Machine to BRP and Yum! Brands.

Deployment differs the same way. Vizibl deploys as a standalone layer alongside existing ERP and procurement systems, with EcoVadis and SAP Ariba Spend Analysis feeds cited and no published ERP or PLM connector library. LightSource sits in the flow of product data, PLM in and ERP out, with a GraphQL API that mirrors the whole platform.

Two company-scale facts for context: LightSource carries venture backing co-led by Lightspeed and Bain Capital Ventures ($33M) and was named a Gartner Cool Vendor in 2025; Vizibl has raised roughly $16.1M to date per Dealroom, and its public news flow has been sparse since late 2023 (the press room's newest item is dated November 2023), so ask directly about the product roadmap and release cadence when evaluating a multi-year program.

Running both: relationship programs on top of a real sourcing record

A manufacturer could run both systems without them ever colliding. Vizibl structures the conversation above the transaction: where you and a strategic supplier agree on joint roadmaps, innovation bets, and decarbonisation targets. LightSource is the record of the transaction itself: the part-level RFQs, cost breakdowns, awards, and price history those same relationships trade through.

The two reinforce each other. A QBR run in Vizibl is more useful when the cost and award data behind it is real, and the sourcing record in LightSource is the evidence base for exactly the partnership conversation Vizibl structures. In practice the pairing looks like this: run part-level sourcing, awards, and supplier scorecards in LightSource, then carry the outcomes into the joint account plans and QBR agendas a Vizibl program manages. Awarded pricing and supplier data export from LightSource via its GraphQL API or Excel, so the sourcing facts can follow the relationship wherever it is governed.

What public reviewers say

On G2, LightSource holds a 4.9/5 rating across roughly 11 reviews, while Vizibl has no G2 rating: G2 states there are not enough reviews of Vizibl to provide buying insight (checked September 2026). LightSource's rating rests on about a dozen reviews and Vizibl has none published, so treat public review sentiment as a small sample rather than a verdict on either product.

There is no meaningful public peer-review base for Vizibl. The public evidence of customer satisfaction is vendor-published. Named executives at Vodafone and Astellas appear in its case studies, and those are real people at real companies, but the testimonials are curated by the vendor rather than collected independently. One caution for anyone researching: G2 also lists an unrelated advertising product called Vizibl by Datawrkz, and its reviews describe a different company's software entirely.

From LightSource's G2 page, a supply chain executive wrote: "Having the cost and quoting information in a single location helps with rapid product launches and better visibility for our leadership group. It's got its quirks, but the constant updates are promising." G2 reviewer (Vice President of Supply Chain, Mid-Market, 2024)

The most useful critical note in the LightSource reviews concerns supplier adoption: "The biggest challenge of LightSource is just getting the suppliers to try it. Once they try it --- they're also hooked." G2 reviewer (Mid-Market, 2024)

When to choose what

Choose Vizibl if

  • You are a large enterprise formalising governance of your top 20 to 50 strategic suppliers with joint account plans, executive sponsorship maps, and a QBR cadence

  • You want to run supplier-driven innovation programs at scale, the way Vodafone used the Innovation Hub to eliminate duplicate proofs-of-concept

  • Scope 3 and supplier decarbonisation engagement is a board-level priority and you want CDP-accredited tooling with the SBTi framework built in

  • Your procurement organisation is measured on value beyond savings and needs to evidence relationship ROI, as in the Astellas case study

Choose LightSource if

  • You source engineered parts and need RFQs, cost breakdowns, award scenarios, and price history tied to a revision-managed item master

  • You want suppliers quoting in days: free supplier access, onboarding in under 30 minutes, Excel round-trip quoting, and a 20,000-supplier network

  • You need BOM-level cost visibility: roll-ups, snapshots, revision diffs, and cost history across the product lifecycle

  • You want AI that is shipped and working in the sourcing workflow today rather than on a roadmap

  • You are a lean team that needs to be live in days on flat files, not running a services-led change program

RUNNING BOTH

This is one of the few pairings on this site with no overlap in managed objects or workflows. Run part-level sourcing, awards, scorecards, and price history in LightSource as the direct-materials system of record; run joint account plans, QBRs, innovation pipelines, and decarbonisation programs for your most strategic suppliers in Vizibl. The relationship conversations Vizibl structures get better when they stand on real cost and award data, and LightSource's GraphQL API and Excel exports make that data portable to wherever the relationship is governed.

Frequently asked questions

Is Vizibl a competitor to LightSource?

No. Vizibl is a supplier collaboration and innovation platform for governing strategic supplier relationships; it has no sourcing, quoting, or BOM functionality and does not claim any. LightSource is the Direct Materials Operating System where parts are sourced, quoted, and awarded. The two manage different objects and can run side by side.

What is Vizibl used for?

Vizibl is used by large enterprises such as Vodafone and Astellas to govern strategic supplier relationships: joint account plans, QBRs and 360-degree surveys, supplier innovation pipelines, and sustainability programs including Scope 3 engagement. It is a CDP-accredited solutions provider and ships a built-in SBTi Supplier Engagement framework.

Does Vizibl handle RFQs, quotes, or bills of materials?

No. There is no RFx, quoting, cost-breakdown, award, or BOM functionality anywhere in Vizibl's public documentation, and ERP Research describes it as built for relationship governance rather than transactional sourcing. Part-level RFQs, quote analysis, and BOM cost management are what LightSource does.

Can LightSource and Vizibl be used together?

Yes, and cleanly, because they share no workflows. LightSource is the system of record for part-level sourcing, awards, and price history; Vizibl structures the strategic relationship layer above it: joint roadmaps, QBRs, and decarbonisation targets. Awarded pricing and supplier data export from LightSource via GraphQL API or Excel to inform those conversations.

How much do Vizibl and LightSource cost?

Vizibl publishes no pricing; per ERP Research it sells a quote-based enterprise subscription priced by which modules you deploy and the scale of the supplier program, with services quoted separately. LightSource prices as a platform fee plus seats, with implementation included and supplier access free.

Does Vizibl have AI features?

Vizibl published a January 2026 vision of AI-agent-powered supplier monitoring it calls a "Supplier OS," but as of September 2026 no shipped AI features are publicly documented. LightSource ships named AI features across the workflow today, including item ingestion, RFQ setup, quote normalization and comparison, drafted award scenarios, and document analysis.
